Borrower Information

Library Cards
You may obtain a library card by presenting two pieces of identification, one of which shows your name and local home address. There is no waiting period for a library card. Please fill out this form and bring it with you with ID and proof of your mailing address to one of our locations.

Circulating Materials
The total number of items you may have checked out is 150.
Due to the limited size of our audio-visual collection you are limited to:

• 7 DVDs
• 7 Compact Discs
• 7 Audiobooks..........at any one time.

Loan Periods
You may borrow DVDs, magazines and Speed Read books for one week and all other material for three weeks.

Renewals
You may renew books, audio books, video tapes and compact discs by phone, through the on-line catalog, or in person for an additional three weeks if there are no outstanding requests and the renewal limit has not been exceeded. DVDs may be renewed for one additional week.

Books, audio books, compact discs, video tapes and DVDs borrowed at Cambridge may be renewed up to three times for an additional borrowing period from the date of each renewal.

Magazines, Speed Read books and Speed View DVDs are not renewable.

Reserves
You are welcome to reserve library materials in person or by using our on-line catalog. DVDs less than a year old are not reservable. When the item you requested comes in, we will notify you by mail or email. You may have a maximum of 20 requests on your acount.

Interlibrary Loans
If we do not have what you need we will be happy to request it for you from another library. Please ask.

Returns
Library materials may be returned to any branch of the Cambridge Public Library or any other Minuteman Network Library.

Fines
You will be fined for adult material returned after the due date. There are no fines for juvenile material. The fine rates is...

• All Adult Material...........10 cents per day

The maximum fine per item is $4.00.

Lost Material
You will be assessed the replacement cost of material permanently lost or destroyed plus a processing fee. The processing fees are:

• Adult Material...............$4.00
• Juvenile Material............$1.00

Lost Library Cards
You are responsible for all materials taken out on your card until the date it is reported lost. To protect yourself, please report your lost card immediately.

The replacement card fee is $1.00.

Minuteman Library Network
Your library card is the key to the resources of Cambridge's Main Library and its six branches. It is also your membership into the Minuteman Library Network (MLN). All MLN library members allow you to borrow their materials on your Cambridge library card. The Cambridge Public Library honors all library cards issued by other MLN libraries.
