Parent/Child Book Group

Where: Children's Room, Main Library

When: This group meets the second and third Tuesdays of every Month from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Reading Interests: This group is for 4th - 6th grade children and their parents or guardians who enjoy reading and discussing books together. Fortified with plenty of pizza, these lively discussions are always informal and fun. This group focuses on reading for pleasure and enjoys a wide variety of children's literature genres, including realistic fiction, biography, fantasy, historical fiction, mystery, and horror. Past titles have included: Coraline, by Neil Gaiman: Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key, by Jack Gantos; and Time Stops for No Mouse, by Michael Hoeye. At the end of each discussion, members vote on what to read next from a varied selection of titles presented by the children's librarian.

Requirements: Pre-registration is required. Both parent and child must read the book for the discussion.

Contact: Julie Roach, Head of Main Library Children's Room (617-349-4038; jroach@cambridgema.gov).
